The title of this post says a lot about my approach toward my clients. When I start working with someone the most important part is to fix, to correct the basic movement patterns so then later on we avoid injuries as we start using heavier weights.
In my opinion having a full range of motion of the joins is way more important than doing fancy exercises. I always think in a long term, and trying to make sure that my clients will love exercising even years later.
When I started to train with Alison, we started with the very basics. Shoulder and hip mobility, we corrected her squat pattern and worked a lot on core stability because she has some problems with her back.
On the next video you will see how much her knee pronates as she is going down into a lunge. We are working on this movement pattern. To do that, we are using a band to help to have the right movement and like that we are able to rewire her brain.
In the first few seconds you can see how much fun we are having during the sessions but when it comes to serious work she can really focus :)
Tip: Before lifting heavy, make sure you're doing it correctly!
