Lifting heavy even with Lupus

I am extremely proud of Fiona who has come a long way since we started personal training together more than two years ago.

She is the one that who represents how personalised a training program can be. Fiona has several conditions meaning there is frequently something she has to face. I never exactly know how she feels on the day when we have a session together, but we always manage to adjust the exercises.

Many of you might know already that Fiona has lupus. Lupus is a systemic autoimmune disease that occurs when your body's immune system attacks your own tissues and organs. Inflammation caused by lupus can affect many different body systems — including your joints, skin, kidneys, blood cells, brain, heart and lungs.

By now we have managed to figure out what works best for her. At the end of the sets her blood pressure drops, or sometime her grip just lets go. But she doesn't have any excuse not to train. She feels strong, she feels fit and the workouts help her to stay pain free.

Knowing all this, now you can see why it is huge for her to be able to deadlift with 53 kg and why I am so proud!
